Recently we have gotten a lot of questions regarding support for the Blackberry Storm and Bold with Sametime Mobile. With the Sametime 8.0.2 release, the Blackberry Storm is not supported. This means that you can not use the IBM solution for Sametime on the Blackberry Storm, but you are still able to use the RIM solution for Sametime on the Blackberry.
Now, if you have a Blackberry Bold, you are in luck. The Blackberry Bold is supported on Sametime Mobile 8.0.2. While this device option is not listed on the Sametime Administration pages, you should select the 8100/8300/8800 options.
Learn MoreI hope that many of you out there using Sametime are enjoying the many rich features of the Sametime Connect Client. One of the features which customers are using more of is video chat. Some of you may have experienced an issue where initializing or closing the Sametime Video chat seems to hang or crash the Sametime Connect Client.
One of the solutions which we have found is to adjust the compatibility settings. You can do this by right-clicking on the Sametime Desktop or start menu icon and selecting properties. In the Application Properties, there will be a compatibility tab. Set the compatbility settings to Windows NT 4 and restart the client. Try video chat out now, this should help to resolve that crash…..enjoy!
